Skydiving

On a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon in August 2004, Linda and I were invited to join two of Linda's colleagues on a skydiving trip to Hollister, CA, about 40 miles south of our home in Dublin, CA. We set off early and arrived at Adventure Center Skydiving where we had a short course of instruction from a jump master before being bundled into a small airplane with no back door and whisked into the sky. At 15,000 ft we were each securely strapped to our jump masters, and out the door we went! It was a mixture of pure terror and total exhilaration, and an unforgettable experience. After a minute of freefall, during which we were falling at about 120mph, the canopy opened and we had a minute of peaceful gliding time down to the landing zone.

Canoeing

In August 2006 we bought a canoe and started heading off on regular adventures on the lakes around the Sacramento area, and then around Washington State.
